Ike Turner Jr., Grammy-winning producer and son of Ike and Tina Turner, dies at 67
"Ike Turner Jr., son of music legends Ike and Tina Turner, died Saturday at 67 from kidney failure. Turner won a Grammy in 2007 as producer on his father's traditional blues album "Risin' With the Blues." The musician had battled heart issues for years, his cousin said, and suffered a stroke last month before his death at a Los Angeles hospital."
""My father took me out of [the] house and out of school and I traveled [with them]," Turner said in a 2017 interview on " The Bobby Eaton Show." "That wasn't no easy work." In that same interview, he also shared the role his mother Tina played in the instruments he picked up in his youth. "My first instrument was drums, until my mother started making me break my drums down every day," he said."
Ike Turner Jr. died at 67 in a Los Angeles hospital from kidney failure after suffering a stroke the previous month and battling heart issues for years. He won a Grammy in 2007 as a producer on his fathers traditional blues album Risin' With the Blues. He worked as a musician, producer and sound engineer and helped run Bolic Sound Studios, the recording studios founded by his father. His family recalled his early immersion in music, taking up many instruments from childhood and touring with his parents beginning at age 13.
