National Symphony Chorus Ireland maintains a repertoire exceeding 100 pieces and a membership of about 160 singers, many of whom travel long distances and invest thousands of rehearsal hours. The chorus marks its 40th anniversary with members reflecting on motivations, the exhilaration of performance and unforeseen personal benefits. The ensemble's history includes hundreds of concerts, numerous rehearsals, thousands of past members, four chorus directors, a name change from RTÉ Philharmonic Choir in 2022, and a relocation across the city.
