Desert 5 Spot opened in Union Market and features the city's only mechanical bull named Teddy. The bull is a deluxe model with controls that spin, buck, and move it up and down; operators ease riders into rides and limit spinning controls to 30 percent. Typical rides at the venue last 30 to 60 seconds, with a padded custom pen that feels like a bounce house for landings. Operators are safety-trained and some have ranch experience. Riders must sign a waiver and follow rules such as keeping clothes on. Cowboy hard hats and custom chaps are provided for photos.
