"I remember adults coming up to me and saying, 'Ohhh, Medeiros! Like Glenn Medeiros, the guy who sang that love song!' And then they start singing it in front of me," Lyric tells TODAY.com. "Older women would come up to me and say, 'Oh, he was a heartthrob!'"
""It's not my first choice of things to do," Glenn laughs. "It's definitely not!" Lyric says. "It's a rare occasion to have my dad willingly film a video with me, and most of the time, I just ask him to stand in the video while I do a trending sound or something like that.""
Lyric Medeiros discovered her father Glenn's fame in middle school when strangers recognized his 1980s hit. Glenn recorded "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You" after winning a Hawaiian competition called Brown Bags to Stardom and later pursued a career in education. Lyric launched a TikTok account in 2022 and persuaded her father to appear in videos, which became wildly popular despite his reluctance. Both have competed in singing competitions: Glenn early in Hawaii and Lyric on American Idol, where she received coaching from Katy Perry. Glenn documents his career in a memoir titled From One Stage to Another.
