""As a little girl I worked tirelessly for ten years to fulfill a dream, to become a K-pop idol, and I was rejected and disappointed that my voice wasn't good enough," she began. "I leaned on songs and music to get through it, so now I am here as a singer and songwriter.""
""I just want to say this award goes to people who have had doors closed on them, and I can confidently say rejection is redirection. So never give up. It is never too late to shine like you were born to be.""
KPop Demon Hunters' song "Golden" won Best Original Song - Motion Picture at the Golden Globes, following a Critics Choice Award the previous week. Singer-songwriter EJAE accepted the Golden Globe tearfully and recounted training nearly ten years beginning at age ten to become a K-pop idol, ultimately facing rejection and not debuting. EJAE described leaning on songs and music, transitioning into songwriting, and becoming the singing voice of Rumi. EJAE dedicated the award to people who have faced closed doors, called rejection "redirection," and urged others to never give up and to shine.
