Godflesh retires from touring due to health issues, but 2 new albums coming & Jesu will still tour
"If I continue to perform and shout/scream as I do with Godflesh, then I am at high risk for more hernias, and blowing out my abdominal wall entirely. Godflesh live ended the day of my surgery, and upon the su[rgery I made the decision that I could not continue to perform as Godflesh.]"
"I had significant open abdominal surgery for a inguinal hernia that was close to an emergency. I am still in shock from the process, and as someone with diagnosed Autism and C-PTSD, open surgery is absolutely debilitating, not that it is easier for anyone of course."
"The better news is that he will still be able to do Jesu and JK Flesh shows because they aren't as physically demanding, and that he plans to release a new Godflesh album called Decay on Relapse this summer and then record another one later this year."
Justin K. Broadrick underwent significant open abdominal surgery for an inguinal hernia three weeks ago and must cease performing as Godflesh due to physical demands that risk further hernias and abdominal wall damage. His weak abdominal wall cannot withstand the shouting and screaming required for Godflesh performances. However, he will continue performing with Jesu and JK Flesh, which are less physically demanding. Broadrick plans to release the Godflesh album Decay on Relapse this summer, followed by a final Godflesh studio album later in the year. Subsequent Godflesh releases will include dub albums and live recordings. He also announced an upcoming solo project.
