Gnarls Barkley Announce Final Album Atlanta, Share First New Single in 18 Years
"The spirit of Gnarls Barkley is always self-discovery. The sweet, the sad, and the strange. The universe, the adventure inside of yourself."
"Looks like motion pictures/ Staring out the window of the MARTA train,/ On an adventure/ Then back home again."
"Green and Danger Mouse had always been set on recording a third album, but life and other creative pursuits intervened. They reconnected last year, agreeing to set aside time for this final chapter."
Gnarls Barkley, the duo of CeeLo Green and producer Danger Mouse, has announced their third and final album titled Atlanta, releasing March 6th via 10k Projects/Atlantic Records. The 13-track album follows their 2008 sophomore effort The Odd Couple. The lead single Pictures showcases their soulful sound and reflects on Green and Danger Mouse's teenage experiences riding Atlanta's MARTA public train system in the 1990s. Green's lyrics draw from personal memories of being sent home by his middle school principal every Friday in 8th grade, spending afternoons riding the train alone. The duo reconnected last year after years pursuing separate creative projects, with Green releasing four solo albums and Danger Mouse collaborating with various artists including The Roots and James Mercer.
