Gia Margaret announces new LP 'Singing' & tour, shares "Everyone Around Me Dancing"
"Chicago-based ambient artist Gia Margaret announced a new album, Singing, due out April 24 via Jagjaguwar. It's her first vocal album since 2018's There's Always Glimmer, and comes after she released two mostly instrumental albums while healing from a vocal injury. "There was a time when I really didn't know if I would sing again," she says. "So once I healed, there was a lot of internal pressure to come back strong."
"Margaret recorded Singing in London with Guy Sigsworth (Frou Frou), David Bazan, Amy Millan, Deb Talan, Kurt Vile, Sean Carey, and her longtime collaborator Doug Saltzman. "A lot of me meeting some of these collaborators (now my friends) fell completely into my lap," she says. "Almost as if they could hear something in me that I'm certain was influenced by them in the first place.""
Gia Margaret announced a new album, Singing, due April 24 via Jagjaguwar. The album marks a return to vocal work after two mostly instrumental releases created during recovery from a vocal injury. Recovery prompted internal pressure to restart singing and a process of rediscovering older aspects of her musical identity. Recording took place in London with collaborators including Guy Sigsworth, David Bazan, Amy Millan, Deb Talan, Kurt Vile, Sean Carey, and Doug Saltzman. The lead single, "Everyone Around Me Dancing," features lush, gentle soundscapes and a video directed by Catherine LoMedico. A tracklist of twelve songs and tour dates from May through September accompany the release.
