"Named for a standout track on 1980's End of the Century, The Return of Jackie and Judy was actually born out of the work of another comedic icon: John Mulaney. More specifically, Mulaney asked the collective (which also features Corin Tucker) to cover Kim Wilde's "Kids in America" for the wrap party of Everybody's Live With John Mulaney. That "gig" then turned into two sold-out shows in Portland for Halloween,"
"With Brownstein on vocals, and Armisen on drums, the band's rendition of "Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment" is appropriately intense and bratty for a proper Ramones covers band. Long may you reign, The Return of Jackie and Judy. Check out the footage below, and stay tuned for even more news and tour dates as it all drops. Also, not to nitpick, but the band could have also gone with "The Poison Hearts" or a more obvious choice, "Sheena and The Punk Rockers.""
Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen teamed with Sleater-Kinney members, including Corin Tucker, to form a Ramones covers band called The Return of Jackie and Judy. The project originated when John Mulaney asked the collective to cover Kim Wilde's "Kids in America" for a wrap party. That initial performance expanded into two sold-out Halloween shows in Portland and a confirmed appearance at BottleRock Napa Valley from May 22–24. The band has promised more select live appearances across the country. Footage from a Portland show features Brownstein on vocals and Armisen on drums performing an intense rendition of "Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment."
