Briefly

Former Nickelodeon star Leon Thomas already won a Grammy. Now he's aiming higher.
"His 2024 breakout album, "Mutt," brought Thomas to the forefront of the R&B scene as a singer and landed him six Grammy nominations, including best new artist and album of the year. Additionally, the title track reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned RIAA double platinum certification. Thomas, 32, debuted on Broadway at age 10 playing Young Simba in "The Lion King." He gained popularity as an actor on Nickelodeon's "Victorious," where his soulful musical abilities shone on the TV screen."
"Thomas says he is "blessed" to be in front of the microphone again. "I have been working behind the scenes for so many years," he says on the phone two days before the start of his sold-out North American tour. "I've always wanted a moment like this, where I get to bring everything that I've worked on throughout my life all together in one piece.""
Leon Thomas began each recording session by experimenting with instruments and jamming for an hour with friends and producers Rob Geringer and David Phelps before developing new songs. The seven-track EP Pholks fuses 1970s–80s funk from Parliament-Funkadelic, Earth, Wind & Fire, the Gap Band, and Prince with psychedelic rock elements inspired by Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin. Thomas previously broke out with the 2024 album Mutt, which earned six Grammy nominations and a double-platinum title track. Thomas started on Broadway as Young Simba, appeared on Nickelodeon's Victorious, and built a producing career that includes a Grammy for SZA's "Snooze."
