FKA Twigs filed to dismiss her sexual-battery lawsuit against Shia LaBeouf after reaching a settlement. The dismissal was entered a few days later in July, and Twigs originally sued LaBeouf for allegations of sexual battery, assault, and emotional distress stemming from their relationship. Their lawyers stated they were committed to a positive future and settled out of court with the details kept private. Twigs's filing detailed severe abuse and personal trauma experienced during their time together, emphasizing that such experiences can happen to anyone.
"Committed to forging a constructive path forward, we have agreed to settle our case out of court," both sides' lawyers said in a statement.
Twigs's original court filing claimed that LaBeouf subjected her to 'relentless abuse' that included grabbing her 'to the point of bruising' and knowingly giving her an STI.
"What I went through with Shia was the worst thing I've ever been through in the whole of my life," she told the New York Times at the time.
"I don't think people would ever think that it would happen to me. But I think that's the thing. It can happen to anybody."
