Exodus Unleash Doomy New Song "Goliath"
"'Goliath' may quite possibly be the heaviest thing we have ever done, and certainly the slowest song in our catalog, as close to doom metal as Exodus we get! Just pure evil, as sinister as it gets, featuring our friend Katie Jacoby, who laid down 18 tracks of strings in the middle harmony section, making the song go from just pure horror to a thing of beauty."
"A crushing change of pace, the five-minute song is an aside into doom for Exodus, trudging forward with dissonant, evil arpeggios and the bellows of comeback-frontman-of-the-year candidate Rob Dukes. The middle bridge stands out with its string arrangements by Katie Jacoby, evoking bands like Paradise Lost in a surprising twist compared to Exodus' typical thrash assault. It's the second top-shelf cut we've heard from the album following lead single '3111,' which took our Heavy Song of the Week honor when it dropped in January."
Exodus released the second single and title track, 'Goliath,' from their new album, arriving March 20. The five-minute song shifts into doom metal territory with dissonant arpeggios, slow pacing, and Rob Dukes' powerful bellowed vocals. The middle bridge features 18 tracks of string arrangements by Katie Jacoby, introducing a melodic, Paradise Lost–like contrast to the band's usual thrash. 'Goliath' follows lead single '3111,' which previously earned Heavy Song of the Week recognition. The single will arrive shortly after Exodus complete a Canadian tour supporting Megadeth, and the band will later join Sepultura on a North American tour.
