AUDIO VERTIGO, the band's tenth album released in 2024, reinvented the group's established anthemic sound with danceable rhythms and a more playful edge. The follow-up EP AUDIO VERTIGO ECHO continues the album's new direction and serves as an experimental, less pressured space reminiscent of classic B-sides and concise EPs. The EP approach intentionally embraces artistic freedom and shorter, cohesive bodies of work. The release includes a track co-written with Jimi Goodwin of Doves. The band is supporting the music with a North American tour, including a Brooklyn Steel date on September 29 and their first major North American run in eight years, while maintaining close connections with longtime superfans and live audiences.
It was more the idea of the record, the album was such a departure musically for us. It was kind of the desire to go further down that road. Who knows where we're going next, but it's like, we've got this new vehicle, let's take it for another spin.
Also, there's something about being in EP-land. We really missed B-sides. Nobody needs to do B-sides any longer. And we loved the kind of artistic freedom it gave you. It's not as serious as an album. You can experiment a bit more. The pressure's off a little bit. And the EP format is something we always loved. I think it was listening to the band Ride. They did really amazing EPs, which are just these great 25-minute bodies of work. So yeah, it was great fun.
