Brent Hinds, co-founding Mastodon guitarist/vocalist, died suddenly and tragically, prompting widespread tributes across the metal community. Deftones dedicated the Koi No Yokan song 'Entombed' to Brent during their Vancouver Rogers Arena release-day show for private music. The show featured live debuts of three singles: 'my mind is a mountain,' 'milk of the madonna,' and 'infinite source,' with 'infinite source' receiving a music video on album release day. Deftones previously performed the singles during a livestreamed rehearsal. The setlist included classics, new material, and an encore featuring 'Cherry Waves' and a cover-heavy finale. Mastodon and peers also paid tributes that night.
The world of metal and beyond has been reeling from the sudden and tragic death of co-founding Mastodon guitarist/vocalist Brent Hinds, and Deftones added their voice to the chorus of people paying tribute to Brent at their release day show for their new album private music. It went down at Vancouver's Rogers Arena on Friday (8/22), and the show saw Chino Moreno dedicating the band's Koi No Yokan song "Entombed" to Brent. "I wanna dedicate this song to a very dear friend," he told the crowd, "Mr. Brent Hinds."
The show also saw the live debuts of private music's three singles, "my mind is a mountain," "milk of the madonna," and "infinite source," the last of which was pushed as a single and got the music video treatment on album release day. The Vancouver show marked the proper live debuts of those songs, though Deftones also performed them during a livestreamed rehearsal a few days earlier.
