De La Soul visited Jimmy Kimmel Live! on November 26 and performed a medley of "Run It Back" and "The Package" from their ninth album, Cabin in the Sky. The release is the group's first since vocalist Trugoy the Dove died in February 2023. "Run It Back" presented the group as a tight, lean duo, highlighting longstanding chemistry between Posdnuos and Maseo. "The Package" incorporated a brass band and a bouncing-ball singalong, serving as a celebratory acknowledgment of life, legacy, rap music, and their fallen brother. Posdnuos described the album as dwelling between loss and light and as both therapy and celebration. Earlier this year the group issued a 20th anniversary edition of The Grind Date.
