David Forman's long lost album is finally getting its chance to shine
"There aren't many music fans who talk about or even remember David Forman in 2026. And that's definitely a shame, since Foreman is a talented singer-songwriter who managed to turn heads with his self-titled 1976 debut, which was full of thoughtful, expertly produced blue-eyed soul and pop numbers. (The debut isn't easy to find, but we stumbled across a nice copy on YouTube by searching for David Forman 1976.)"
"Forman would record a second album dubbed Who You Been Talking To for Arista Records in 1977. And he most definitely was working with a dream team in the studio, with producer Jack Nitzsche (Neil Young, Rolling Stones) at the helm and a group of A-list L.A. session players that included Ry Cooder, Jim Keltner, David Lindley, Fred Tackett, Tim Drummond and Flaco Jimenez."
David Forman gained attention with a self-titled 1976 debut of thoughtful, expertly produced blue-eyed soul and pop numbers. Rolling Stone reportedly hailed Forman as a songwriter on a level with Bruce Springsteen, Warren Zevon and Tom Waits. Forman recorded a second album, Who You Been Talking To, for Arista Records in 1977 with producer Jack Nitzsche and A-list L.A. session players including Ry Cooder, Jim Keltner, David Lindley, Fred Tackett, Tim Drummond and Flaco Jimenez. Legendary label executive Clive Davis reportedly found no single in the mix and shelved the record. High Moon Records will release the album on Jan. 23, with the title-track video available on YouTube and the full record sold at highmoonrecords.com.
