Cursive's Tim Kasher announces new LP, written in a long weekend; hear 2 tracks
"I offered myself FOUR days rather than just the two, and perhaps that's a cheat, but since it was Memorial Day weekend I decided to allow it."
"I kept pushing myself to write as much as possible, as I wanted to have enough songs to be able to weed out one or two of the crappier contributions."
"I have a nice little community online, a Patreon group called, 'Tim Kasher's home phone', that I shared the weekend challenge with."
"As soon as I finished a song I went live online to perform it. 'Receipts', you might say."
Tim Kasher announced his new album, Sponges of Experience, set for release on May 22. He wrote the album in four days over Memorial Day weekend, inspired by a comment from Elvis Costello about writing an album quickly. Kasher aimed to create at least eight songs, pushing himself to write more to allow for selection. He engaged his online community for support during the process, performing completed songs live. Additional arrangements were made over the following year without strict deadlines.
