Courtney Barnett Announces New Album and Tour, Shares Song With Waxahatchee
"I tried 3 separate times over 2 years to track this song, and each time it either wasn't finished or didn't sound right and each time we had to start again. I kept hearing this really high harmony in my head, so for the fourth and final version, I asked Katie if she'd be into singing it with me. I'm a big Waxahatchee fan. I really love Katie's songwriting and her voice, so it was an honour to have her sing on 'Site Unseen.'"
"Barnett put out her last proper studio album, Things Take Time, Take Time, in 2021. That same year, she was the subject of the documentary Anonymous Club, which also featured an instrumental soundtrack composed by Barnett and Warpaint drummer Stella Mozgawa. Barnett's extensive North American tour in support of Creature of Habit will take place in two legs-one in May and the other in August."
Courtney Barnett will release Creature of Habit on March 27 via Mom+Pop. The 10-track album includes last year's single 'Stay in Your Lane' and 'Site Unseen,' a duet with Katie Crutchfield of Waxahatchee, released alongside a music video directed by Juliana and Nicola Giraffe. 'Site Unseen' required multiple recording attempts over two years before the final version featured Crutchfield singing a high harmony. Barnett's previous studio album was Things Take Time, Take Time (2021), and 2021 also featured the documentary Anonymous Club with an instrumental soundtrack co-composed with Stella Mozgawa. A North American tour supporting Creature of Habit will run in May and August.
