"The collab is a pairing of Oklahoma underground talent, as heard on the lead single "Radioactive Dreams." Pedigo's atmospheric guitarwork guides the beginning of the song, offering his fans a rare chance to hear his musical stylings with lyrics via Chat Pile frontman Raygun Busch."
""We all wanted to avoid the downfall you see in a lot of collab records," said Pedigo via press release, the guitarist having crossed paths with Chat Pile via the Oklahoma City DIY scene. "We didn't want this record to either end up primarily sounding like one of us more than the other.""
"Especially for Chat Pile, the album - initially conceived as a shorter split release - allowed the band to eschew their typically sludgy/noisy brand of post-hardcore for moodier arrangements and varied instrumentation, as well as sonic experimentation with the use of samplers and tape manipulation. Stated Stin from Chat Pile: "For the album, every decision made was in support of each other's ideas and making sure that everything we did was in service of a greater vision.""
In the Earth Again, a collaborative album by Chat Pile and Hayden Pedigo, arrives October 31 on vinyl, CD, and cassette via Computer Students. The lead single "Radioactive Dreams" features Pedigo's atmospheric finger-picked guitar opening, pairing his instrumental style with Raygun Busch's vocals before the band joins in dynamic post-rock crescendos. The project evolved from a planned split into a full collaboration that pushed Chat Pile toward moodier arrangements, varied instrumentation, and experiments with samplers and tape manipulation. The collaborators aimed for balance so the record would not sound dominated by either contributor. Both artists will tour separately this fall.
