Carla Harvey Brings New Energy to Lords of Acid | Metro Silicon Valley | Silicon Valley's Leading Weekly
Carla Harvey grew up on the outskirts of Detroit and found escape from suburban routine through music. Classic rock, extreme metal, and industrial sounds offered danger and meaning that felt missing from daily life. She connected to the anger and energy of Pantera, the swagger and lyrics of Guns N’ Roses, and still dresses like Axl Rose. She later joined Lords of Acid as lead singer in January 2025 after hearing them while dancing at Detroit’s City Club. The group’s underground electronic sound, transgressive style, and tongue-in-cheek raunchy lyrics captivated her. She is now performing on a 35-date “Cheeky Freaky” tour, using the stage to relive the teenage version of herself.
"“As a kid growing up in the Midwest, they each offered a little bit of danger that was missing from daily life,” she said in a mid-April interview. “I was a fringe society kid looking for something meaningful. I could relate to the anger in Phil's voice and the energy of Pantera. With Guns N' Roses, the lyrics spoke to me, along with the swagger of the band. I still dress like Axl Rose in 1987 on a daily basis.”"
