"The America that I love, the America I have written about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration."
"I wrote Streets of Minneapolis and recorded it the next day."
"Bruce, nuance is wonderful, but sometimes you need to kick them in the teeth."
Bruce Springsteen warned European audiences that the America he loves is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration. Following the shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, Springsteen released the protest song "Streets of Minneapolis." He traveled to Minnesota to perform the song live at a benefit concert arranged by Tom Morello. Springsteen said he wrote and recorded the song the next day. Tom Morello told Springsteen that sometimes musical nuance must give way to forceful action, saying that sometimes you need to "kick them in the teeth." The duo also performed "The Ghost of Tom Joad" and opened the show with "Killing In The Name Of."
