Boards of Canada Release Inferno, First New Album in 13 Years
Boards of Canada released their new album Inferno through Warp Records. The album follows lead singles “Introit” and “Prophecy At 1420 MHz,” each supported by an official video directed by Robert Beatty. The release comes after a months-long cryptic campaign featuring VHS tapes sent to fans and the Hexagon Sun symbol appearing on posters in cities worldwide. The duo resurfaced on April 16 with “Tape 05,” their first new music in over a decade, though it does not appear on Inferno. Inferno is their fifth studio album and first in 13 years, featuring 18 tracks. It is available on limited red translucent 2LP vinyl with a triple gatefold sleeve and 16-page booklet, plus standard vinyl, CD, and digital formats. Worldwide “Inferno Sessions” listening events were held across seven cities, with additional store listening parties later.
