Maren Morris said a fan grabbed her ass during a pre-show meet-and-greet at her Michigan tour stop and urged supporters to respect her personal space. She wrote she will continue meet-and-greets because one person should not ruin them for everyone and said she is there to connect, share, and hug but asked fans not to override personal boundaries. Morris is touring North America on the Dreamsicle Tour supporting her fourth album Dreamsicle, released in May. Morris came out as bisexual in June, eight months after filing for divorce from Ryan Hurd, and said community and vulnerability have been vital during her post-divorce reckoning.
Hi y'all. Tonight's show was so fun, but someone grabbed my ass during [the] meet-and-greet before the show," she wrote. "I'm going to continue them because one person shouldn't ruin it for everyone, but please know I'm there to connect, share, hug, all the things but please don't override someone's personal space. love you.
"I've always known that I am attracted to men and women," she said. "I think because I've been in straight relationships the last 15 years of my life, which has been consumed by my music career and living in Nashville, I never felt brave enough to talk about it.
"That was just a facet of me that I didn't think I wanted private anymore. I wanted to be able to connect with my fans and my queer community. Especially in a time where you're in this free-for-all post-divorce reckoning, community has been so necessary for me and life-saving. Being honest and being vulnerable is the only way that you find community."
