"Evyatar and Guy, I"m so excited to hear you guys are home today. We've been following the story closely. We knew you guys were devoted A7X fans and we appreciate it so much. The things you guys have been through, it's just unspeakable, terrible. Hopefully we see you guys soon. Be safe. Spend time with your family. Get some rest and hopefully we can see you guys soon. Welcome home. Glad you guys are okay."
"It's not something that I'm going to worry about; I know that it's the right thing to do. I think you have to stick to your moral compass, but I've definitely heard it from both sides. To me, that video is just a human doing something for another human."
"You know the hammer's going to come down from the other side. But if you worry about that, then you're just going to live your life scared and ... in an untruthful sort of place. We've done things for a lot of different people across different cultures and different religions. And at the end of the day, if they're fans, we really want to reach out and we want to support them in some sort of way."
M. Shadows recorded a video message welcoming home freed Israeli hostages Evyatar David and Guy Gilboa-Dalal, noting they were devoted Avenged Sevenfold fans and expressing relief that they were okay. He described their experiences as "unspeakable, terrible" and urged them to rest and spend time with family. In a later interview, he defended the message as a human gesture rather than a political stance and said he followed his moral compass. He acknowledged divisive reactions but rejected the idea that disagreement equals enmity, and noted the band has reached out to people across cultures and religions. Gilboa-Dalal also posted his own video statement.
