"Sometimes it can feel like we're constantly being sold something and being inundated with bad news all at the same time. I think I was subconsciously asking myself what I have to offer as an artist in these strange times and needed a reminder that our empathy is what makes us beautiful and how powerful we are when we show up for one another and prioritize care."
"Written during travel stints, A Rush to Nowhere sees the artist electing to write through time, which she sees as a language of life rather than the simpler linear narrative. By threading together memories, journal entries, and wistful declarations, Ederra has assembled a body of work that's as deeply personal as it is steadfastly courageous."
Arima Ederra's sophomore album, A Rush to Nowhere, examines the nature of time and human connection through deeply personal songwriting. Created during travel and rooted in meditation, the album weaves together memories, journal entries, and reflective declarations. Ederra addresses contemporary overwhelm—constant consumerism and negative news—by centering empathy and care as powerful forces. The record blends experimental approaches to soul, R&B, folk, and pop, drawing from Black music traditions. Produced collaboratively with Teo Halm and other genre-fluid producers including Caleb Laven and Solomonophonic, the album represents Ederra's unflinching exploration of human states of being and what artists can offer during uncertain times.
