"Arctic Monkeys, whose debut album turns 20 this week, said in a statement: We are proud to support the invaluable work War Child do and hope the record will make a positive difference to the lives of children affected by war. James Ford, who has produced or co-produced all but one of the Arctic Monkeys' albums, oversaw the album which was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in November."
Arctic Monkeys released Opening Night, their first song since 2022's The Car, with proceeds directed to War Child. Opening Night appears on HELP(2), a sequel to War Child's 1995 Help compilation that raised £1.2m for children affected by conflict. The HELP(2) compilation, released on 6 March, features Portishead's Beth Gibbons, Blur alumni Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon, Pulp, Beck and Depeche Mode, alongside younger artists Olivia Rodrigo, Fontaines DC, Cameron Winter, Wet Leg and Sampha. Filmmaker Jonathan Glazer worked with children in Ukraine, Gaza, Yemen and Sudan to create films and recruited UK children to document the project. James Ford produced the album at Abbey Road in November. War Child estimates one in five children, about 520 million, are now affected by war.
