Ambient country band SUSS announce new album & tour dates: hear "Sunset II"
"Spoiler alert: they counted 10 sunsets on Counting Sunsets, naming these tracks sequentially from "Sunset I" to "Sunset X," layering pedal steel with synthesizers, acoustic guitars and gentle bass. You can listen to "Sunset II," which, like pretty much everything they've released, is bathed in a tranquil beauty."
"SUSS have tour dates this spring, starting in the NYC area with shows at Tubby's Kingston on March 21 and the East Village's Night Club 101 on March 23, both of which are with Adeline Hotel. They then head to Knoxville's Big Ears Festival and all points West."
SUSS, pioneers of ambient country music, has announced their new album Counting Sunsets, releasing May 15 through Northern Spy Records. The band—comprising Pat Irwin, Bob Holmes, and Jonathan Gregg—self-produced the album, which contains ten tracks named sequentially from Sunset I through Sunset X. The compositions layer pedal steel guitar with synthesizers, acoustic guitars, and gentle bass lines, creating a tranquil sonic landscape characteristic of the band's aesthetic. The album is accompanied by an extensive spring and summer tour beginning in March with performances in Kingston and New York City, followed by appearances at the Big Ears Festival in Knoxville and venues across the western United States, concluding with international dates in Czech Republic.
