Alabama Shakes released 'Another Life,' their first original material since the 2015 album Sound & Color and their debut single for Island Records. Brittany Howard described the song as reflecting multiple lives, missed chances, goodbyes, and interconnected versions of the self that harmonize over time. The trio—Howard, Heath Fogg, and Zac Cockrell—entered official hiatus in 2018, during which Howard issued solo albums in 2019 and 2023.
