"It has been inside me that long. I tend to focus my writing on humans and the spirit within. So writing about concrete and steel felt like a no go. Like I'm going to write a song about a car next? But of course cities are made by humans so they are human, too."
"This song started off as three separate ideas. The Pinback-esque bassline, the chord progression that became the chorus, and the outro. Thom, Jeremy and I worked together to construct this song out of those ideas and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I really wanted to include an Omar Rodriguez-Lopez style guitar solo, too. I'm really happy with how we've incorporated our influences on this song especially, while also feeling like it's the 'most Peaer' song to date."
A daily music roundup curates newly released songs, posts news and premieres, and updates a weekly playlist of favorite tracks. The roundup reviews a handful of new albums across genres, collects indie releases, and notes upcoming metal records. Bill Callahan released "Lonely City," a tribute to New York that frames cities as human creations and describes a personal relationship with urban life. Peaer shared the single "Bad News" from the upcoming album Doppelganger, explaining the song's construction from three ideas, the influence of other musicians on its sound, and lyrics born from resentment toward a music career and retreat into solitude.
