Brad Arnold died at 47 after a battle with Stage 4 kidney cancer, passing peacefully in his sleep surrounded by loved ones. He had announced a diagnosis of clear cell renal carcinoma that had metastasized to his lungs, prompting cancellation of a summer tour. Arnold was the lead singer and co-founder of 3 Doors Down, formed in Mississippi in 1995. He wrote "Kryptonite" at age 15. The band's debut album The Better Life sold over 6 million copies. The band earned Grammy nominations for "Kryptonite" and "When I'm Gone" and released six albums, most recently Us And The Night in 2016.
