"We have closely analyzed the potential impact of the changes we're introducing and we expect there to be minimal impact to your performance. Giving users the option to hide end screens resulted in a less than 1.5% decrease in views from end screens, based on a global experiment on mobile from March-July 2025. Since there's already a Subscribe button directly below the video player, we're removing this additional Subscribe button to simplify and improve the viewing experience."
A Hide button will appear in the top-right of the video player allowing viewers to dismiss end screens for the current video. If end screens appear after watching content, tapping Hide will remove them from view for that video. A global mobile experiment from March–July 2025 showed giving users the option to hide end screens led to less than a 1.5% decrease in views originating from end screens. An additional Subscribe button that duplicated the Subscribe control below the player will be removed to simplify and improve the viewing experience. The changes are expected to have minimal performance impact.
