"vivo announced the X300 series smartphones in China earlier this week and we got to have a quick look at the X300 and X300 Pro (no Ultra yet), complete with benchmarks and some on-location camera samples. The review units are on their way to the office for some of our more standardized testing, but in the meantime we figured we'd touch upon one of the other major developments from the company this year - OriginOS 6 is going global."
"Up until now, vivo smartphones intended for their home market were the only ones running OriginOS, while the international ones were on a different software branch called FuntouchOS. We have often been critical of Funtouch because of its somewhat dated look and feel, and gray importing a phone with the otherwise superior Origin meant dealing with China-specific pre-installed apps, certain limitations with payment/banking software, and other often unforeseeable roadblocks."
vivo announced the X300 series smartphones in China and provided early X300 and X300 Pro units with benchmarks and on-location camera samples. Review units are en route for standardized testing. OriginOS 6 will replace FuntouchOS globally, unifying Chinese and international software branches. FuntouchOS had a dated look and gray-imported Origin devices caused China-specific app issues and payment limitations. OriginOS 6 is an incremental update from OriginOS 5 and introduces new Control Center styling; the OS shows meaningful evolution on an international X200 Pro seed unit.
