T-Mobile announced achieving a record 550 Mbps uplink speed in sub-6 GHz spectrum during a live demonstration in Seattle, utilizing 3GPP Release 17 UL Tx Switching technology in collaboration with Nokia and MediaTek. The company aims to enhance user experiences with uplink speeds crucial for tasks such as 4K video uploads and real-time gaming. The demonstration used 100MHz of TDD and 35MHz of FDD spectrum, showcasing T-Mobile's commitment to leading in future network capabilities by focusing on uplink improvements alongside previous record-setting download speeds.
"Everyone obsesses over download speed, but at T-Mobile we see what's coming, and uplink is the next big thing," Ulf Ewaldsson, T-Mobile president of technology, said in a prepared statement.
"Whether you're uploading 4K video, gaming in real time, or powering a VR headset, this record shows that T-Mobile is already building the network for that future and focused on bringing the best customer experience."
T-Mobile achieved the speed using 3GPP Release 17 UL Tx Switching in a live demo with Nokia and MediaTek, conducting the demonstration at a commercial site in Seattle, WA.
T-Mobile used 100MHz of TDD (n41) spectrum and 35MHz of FDD spectrum and a MediaTek smartphone flagship test device with an integrated M90 modem.
