"Spotify announced that it is now beta testing AI audiobook recaps for iOS users. The feature aims to summarize the audiobooks until the past point where users left off, so they can quickly resume their listening sessions. Recaps are currently limited to a small selection of English-language audiobooks, but Spotify confirmed that it plans to expand it to more titles soon."
"The Recap button will be placed right above the chapters section and will be visible only if you've listened to a title for at least 15 minutes. Recaps only cover the portion of the book you've already heard. Much like a "previously on" feature for TV, Recaps help you easily re-engage with a story without needing to relisten. Designed to reduce friction and keep you immersed, Recaps are part of our ongoing effort to make audiobook listening more seamless, intuitive, and listener-friendly."
Spotify is testing AI-generated audiobook recaps on iOS that summarize each title up to the point a listener last stopped so resuming is faster. The Recap button appears above the chapters section and becomes visible after a user has listened to at least 15 minutes. Recaps currently cover a small selection of English-language audiobooks, with plans to expand the offering. Recaps only summarize the portion already heard, acting like a "previously on" recap to re-engage listeners without relistening. Spotify also added Premium shuffle controls: a Fewer Repeats option reduces repeat frequency and is available in Settings > Playback.
