"Samsung is rumored to be launching the Galaxy S26 family (most likely in January) running One UI 8.5. A few days ago we got our first look at the design changes coming in this upcoming release, and today courtesy of a teardown of a One UI 8.5 build there's additional news about a new feature that will be built in."
"And that's exactly what will change when One UI 8.5 launches. When you get it, you'll be able to pick between seven things the gesture can trigger: AI Select, Flashlight, Notifications, Open app, Privacy display, Quick settings, and Screenshot. That's the list for now but of course Samsung could add items to it at any point between now and the release of One UI 8.5 (or take some out)."
Samsung is rumored to launch the Galaxy S26 family, likely in January, running One UI 8.5. A teardown of a One UI 8.5 build reveals a built-in double-tap back gesture that can perform actions. Previously the double-tap back action existed only through the Good Lock app and was not part of the system skin. One UI 8.5 will include a native option to assign seven possible actions to the gesture: AI Select, Flashlight, Notifications, Open app, Privacy display, Quick settings, and Screenshot. The action list could be expanded or modified before the official One UI 8.5 release.
