"The integration of 5G, AI-enabled productivity features, and smart note-taking capabilities is repositioning tablets beyond media consumption toward everyday productivity. As notebook prices rise, detachable tablets in particular are emerging as a practical, cost-effective alternative for students and young professionals."
India's tablet market experienced significant contraction in 2025, declining 21.7% year-over-year to 4.4 million shipments. Samsung dominated with 37.2% market share and 1.6 million units, followed by Lenovo with 666,000 shipments and 28.9% growth. Xiaomi achieved third place with 12.8% share and 12.1% growth, while Apple held fourth with 540,000 shipments despite a 14% decline. Acer suffered a severe 68.8% drop to fifth place. In Q4 2025 alone, Samsung and Lenovo led, with Whistel experiencing explosive 292.7% growth. Tablets are increasingly positioned as productivity tools through 5G, AI features, and smart note-taking, serving as cost-effective alternatives to rising notebook prices for students and professionals.
