Google is launching a new desktop mode for Pixel devices as part of its March Pixel drop. Users with Pixel 8 and newer models can connect their devices to external monitors via USB-C to access a desktop-like multi-window experience. The feature supports mouse and keyboard input and is compatible with Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and Pixel Tablet. The Pixel Tablet receives a dedicated desktop windowing feature offering a familiar interface for arranging and resizing overlapping windows. Google has been developing this desktop experience for Android in collaboration with Samsung, building on Samsung's DeX feature that automatically adjusts phone layouts when connected to larger displays. Beta testing began in June for eligible Pixel 8 users.
