Boox P6 Pro announced with 5G connectivity, Kaleido 3 color E Ink screen
"Following a series of teasers, Onyx has officially announced the Boox P6 Pro - its latest smartphone-sized e-reader. This one is notable because it adds cellular connectivity with full 5G support and also comes in a special version with a Kaleido 3 color E Ink screen with 4096 colors, similar to what we've seen on Amazon's Kindle Colorsoft models. Boox P6 Pro also comes in a regular monochrome E Ink screen version using a Carta 1300 screen."
"The P6 Pro series comes with an unspecified eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. You can also expand the storage thanks to the onboard microSD card slot. The P6 Pro models boot Boox OS 4.1 based on Android 13 and support dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 connectivity. They also get 3,950 mAh batteries with 15W charging over USB-C."
Onyx Boox P6 Pro is a 6.13-inch smartphone-sized e-reader available in color and monochrome E Ink versions. The color model uses Kaleido 3 with 4096 colors and adds stylus support; the monochrome model uses a Carta 1300 panel. Both displays measure 824 x 1,684 pixels, include etched glass, automatic brightness, and sizable bezels. The devices include stereo speakers, a rear 16-megapixel camera for scanning, and dual-band Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth 5. Hardware includes an unspecified eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage plus microSD expansion, Boox OS 4.1 on Android 13, and a 3,950 mAh battery with 15W USB-C charging. Prices start at CNY 2,516 for the monochrome model and CNY 2,991 for the color model, with China availability beginning October 15 and international availability not yet detailed.
