Tadej Pogačar will not participate in the Vuelta a España, allowing him to gain mental and physical rest after an intense, successful 2025 season. His victories included the UAE Tour and four Tour de France titles in six years. The decision came shortly after his Tour de France success, with Juan Ayuso and João Almeida set to lead UAE Team Emirates in Spain. Team manager Mauro Gianetti emphasized the importance of giving Pogačar space to enjoy racing, given the immense pressure he faces to maintain his performance levels.
"Being Tadej Pogačar is nice, but it's not easy. He is under a lot of pressure when he races; everybody expects him to be strong, to win, to put on a show. So it's important for us to handle this, because he's not just a racer."
