Urged by Trump, UFC adds Lewis vs. Hokit to White House card
"About an hour ago, the president leans over to me and says, 'Why is Derrick Lewis not on the White House card?' and I said, 'Hold on Mr. President.'"
"I stepped away and called Derrick Lewis and said, 'Derrick, the president just asked why you're not on the card. Do you want to fight on the White House card?' He said, 'Of course.'"
"Lewis holds the most knockouts in UFC history at 16 and is a former UFC title challenger, coming off a knockout loss to Waldo Cortes-Acosta."
"Hokit is currently best known for his pre- and post-fight pro-wrestling shticks and is 3-0 since signing with the UFC in 2025."
Derrick Lewis has been added to the UFC Freedom Fights 250 card at the White House, following a request from President Trump. UFC CEO Dana White announced that Lewis will face Josh Hokit, who recently won against Curtis Blaydes. Trump inquired about Lewis's absence from the card during the event, prompting White to contact Lewis, who agreed to fight. Lewis, a former title challenger and all-time knockout leader, was previously omitted from the announcement in March, while Hokit is known for his entertaining persona in the UFC.
