UFC's White House card to be headlined by Topuria-Gaethje
"Topuria (17-0), a 29-year-old native of Spain, is a two-weight champion and widely considered one of the most dangerous knockout artists in the sport. He successfully moved up from featherweight last June and won the UFC's 155-pound championship with a first-round knockout of Charles Oliveira."
"Gaethje (27-5), 37, will attempt to defend home soil and take advantage of his third opportunity to win a UFC title. He fought for the belt in 2020 and 2022 and came up short against all-time greats in Khabib Nurmagomedov and Oliveira."
"The event, which the promotion has dubbed UFC Freedom Fights 250, is scheduled to take place on June 14. The date coincides with U.S. President Donald Trump's 80th birthday and is also meant to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Independence Day."
The UFC announced UFC Freedom Fights 250, a historic event at the White House scheduled for June 14. The main event features undisputed lightweight champion Ilia Topuria defending his title against interim champion Justin Gaethje. Topuria, a 29-year-old Spanish two-weight champion and knockout artist, won the 155-pound belt with a first-round knockout of Charles Oliveira after moving up from featherweight. He takes his first title defense after addressing personal matters. Gaethje, 37, pursues his third UFC title opportunity after previous losses to Khabib Nurmagomedov and Oliveira. The Denver-based fighter claimed the interim championship by defeating Paddy Pimblett in January.
