UFC Vegas 117: Doo-Ho Choi Wants to Erase Opponent's "Korean Killer" Title
"“For the two years, I recovered health-wise, I recovered perfectly. And I had a lot of chances to improve my new strategies, so I'm ready to show that this year.”"
"“I had one match with him previously [a cancelled bout in 2025], and I was expecting a lot of him, and I saw his fights with other Korean fighters as well. So I'm ready to fight with him, and I'm excited for it.”"
"“As a gameplan, I expect a lot of strikes and striking strategy between the two [fighters], including me. I always think that all the fights will be my last, so that's how I expect the fights will be.”"
"“I have a lot of responsibility in the title [most experienced Korean UFC fighter], and I know that Daniel Santos has won two fights over two Korean fighters. He's also known as the 'Korean Killer.' So what I want to show in this fight is that I want to erase that title and show him who is [victorious].”"
Doo-Ho Choi, a South Korean UFC Hall of Fame member, returns to competition at UFC Vegas 117 after not fighting since 2024. He faces featherweight Daniel Santos, who has wins over other Korean fighters and has earned the unofficial nickname “The Korean Killer.” Choi said he recovered fully during his time away and used the period to improve new strategies. He noted he previously had a matchup with Santos that was cancelled in 2025 and expects a striking-heavy fight. Choi emphasized responsibility as the most experienced Korean in the UFC and wants to prove he is the victorious fighter by removing Santos’s label.
