"At least early, both women seemed ready to engage. Cong targeted the body, Moura had her moments, and arguably was pulling ahead. But it was Wang Cong, towards the end of the round, dropping Brazil's Moura, and getting on top. Follow-up strikes rained down following that blow to the chin, with Cong landing a nasty elbow. Moura, inexplicably, survived, even grabbing an ankle just before the bell."
"Moura would eventually take the back, but couldn't quite get a body triangle in, with Cong freeing herself- only to be dragged right back down. Hooks went in, and Moura eventually put a body triangle in place while she worked to get an arm under Cong's chin. She had it in deep as Cong got to her knees, punching back at her opponent. Somehow, Cong survived, while Moura, now bloodied, mixed in heavy ground n' pound."
Both fighters missed flyweight by the same amount, each weighing 127.5lbs at the official weigh-in. Early in the fight Cong targeted the body while Moura had offensive moments, until Cong dropped Moura late in the first and unloaded follow-up strikes and an elbow. Moura survived and secured takedowns in the second, worked for an arm-triangle, took the back, and applied a body triangle and heavy ground-and-pound while bloodied. In the third, Cong regained top control, landed short punches, hunted a choke, worked a rear-naked choke late, and Moura appeared exhausted and gave a thumbs-up in the described sequence.
