UFC Heavyweight Mohammed Usman Releases Statement on Failed Drug Test
"On Friday, Combat Sports Anti-Doping and the UFC announced that Usman tested positive for an exogenous source of testosterone in an out-of-competition sample provided on Sept. 8."
"Because CSAD determined that Usman engaged in "deceptive conduct" to avoid sanctions, he was given an extended suspension of two years and six months."
""I want to address my suspension," Usman wrote on Instagram. "During my recovery, I made a mistake while trying to heal, and I take full responsibility for it. The time has allowed me to get my health back, focus on my family, and gain a deeper appreciation for life.""
Mohammed Usman tested positive for an exogenous source of testosterone in an out-of-competition sample from Sept. 8, prompting his removal from a scheduled heavyweight bout in Rio de Janeiro. CSAD found that Usman engaged in "deceptive conduct" to avoid sanctions and imposed a two-year, six-month suspension that will keep him out of competition until April 2028. Usman admitted to using testosterone in the past and leading up to UFC Rio, and acknowledged earlier use of the banned peptide BPC-157 in 2025. He said the suspension allowed him to recover, focus on family, and gain a deeper appreciation for life. Usman is 36 and holds a 4-2 promotional record.
