At UFC Des Moines, Montel Jackson achieved a unanimous decision victory against Daniel Marcos, handing him his first loss in the professional circuit. Jackson has now won six consecutive bouts, positioning himself within the top 15 of the bantamweight division. Despite acknowledging that he was "kind of rough around the edges," Jackson praised Marcos' defensive strategy but remains determined to keep winning. Eager for a quick return to the octagon, he expressed interest in fighting on the upcoming Atlanta card in June 2023.
Jackson, who sits just inside the top 15 at 135lbs, has now won six straight fights, but continues to fly under the radar. Still, if his winning ways continue, he won't be overlooked much longer.
He [Jackson] admitted that he was "kind of rough around the edges" in the fight, highlighting that his opponent "did a good job of staying lower and keeping his neck kind of sucked in."
Jackson noted that Marcos did well by staying away and making it difficult for him to attack, saying he was trying to make Jackson chase him down.
With six straight victories, Jackson is eager for more, stating, "I'll probably try to fight again immediately. If they can get me on that Atlanta card, I'd like that."
