In the months since, Aspinall has come out and said he believes Gane committed the foul on purpose."

Aspinall reports lingering double vision and restricted eye movement after the injury. He has said he believes Gane committed the foul intentionally. The first title defense was ruled a no-contest after Aspinall could not continue. The UFC has expressed interest in rebooking the heavyweight rematch once Aspinall is cleared for training.
