"It has become a guiding principle to seek out people who are humble but heroic in equal measure. Their journey is our journey. Their triumph, our purpose. UFC world heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall is the perfect embodiment of that -- and he is the ideal, inaugural member of our team."
"The move comes amid a growing rivalry between Hearn and UFC boss Dana White, who is now also leading Zuffa Boxing. The two promoters have gone back-and-forth in the media in recent weeks, with White landing a significant blow by signing British fighter Conor Benn from Hearn, who Matchroom had hoped would be their biggest star in the coming years."
UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall has signed with Eddie Hearn's newly created Matchroom Talent Agency, representing Hearn's inaugural move into MMA representation. Hearn, chairman of Matchroom Boxing and manager of notable boxers Anthony Joshua and Katie Taylor, will now manage and advise Aspinall. The announcement was made Thursday with a London news conference scheduled for Friday. Hearn stated Aspinall embodies his principle of seeking humble yet heroic individuals. The signing occurs amid escalating rivalry between Hearn and UFC boss Dana White, following White's recent acquisition of British fighter Conor Benn from Matchroom. Aspinall remains under UFC contract and hasn't fought since October when he defended his title against Ciryl Gane, which ended due to eye pokes requiring subsequent surgery.
