The first round had boxing exchanges before Silva took Barber's back and attempted a rear-naked choke, allowing Silva to take the round. In the second, Barber escaped a guillotine, completed a takedown, and a scramble saw Silva land a foul kick to Barber's chin; the referee did not deduct a point and stood the fighters up. Barber then landed ground-and-pound, briefly had back and top, and Silva ended the round in full mount with a triangle attempt. In the third, Barber landed the more powerful shots, survived takedowns and leg-lock attempts, and secured the unanimous decision.
