Early striking exchanges saw Blanchfield jab while Cortez used leg kicks and looping hooks, with Cortez mixing knees and a right hand as the round progressed. Cortez attempted a takedown in round two but Blanchfield reversed and secured a bodylock, then landed another takedown off a trip and moved into half-guard. Blanchfield then began searching for an arm-triangle choke as Cortez escaped and returned to her feet with about a minute remaining.
