UFC 322: Erin Blanchfield Addresses Long Awaited Rematch with Cortez
"I think the timing just finally worked out, it was meant to happen,"
"The division is a little bit stalled at the top with super-fights. So I think it just makes sense now."
"I think it's more personal for myself as a fighter just to prove to myself how much I've grown. And to my coaches and everything, that the work we've put in has really shown, and that's what I want to show on Saturday."
"Before I made my UFC debut, I was out for like, I didn't fight for 14 months before that, and I was able to go in there and kill that fight. So I'm expecting the same from this one."
Erin Blanchfield returns at UFC 322 to rematch Tracy Cortez after a split-decision loss to Cortez in 2019 under the Invicta FC banner. Blanchfield holds a 13-2 record with a recent loss to Manon Fiorot in March 2024 and a rebound win over Rose Namajunas. Blanchfield views the timing as appropriate given a stalled division at the top and sees the fight as an opportunity to prove personal and coaching-driven growth since fighting Cortez at age 19. A year elapsed since her last scheduled bout due to an opponent withdrawal, but past long layoffs did not prevent strong returns.
